I am no longer billing insurance companies, but I am happy to provide a Superbill for reimbursement if you have diagnostic codes available from your provider. This superbill would be submitted by you to receive reimbursement from your insurance company. Not all insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. You would need to check with your individual insurance plan.
*All I would need from you to create a Superbill is a prescription from your provider that includes diagnostic codes.
I am often asked what kind of massage I do. My answer is that I strive to give my patients the massage that they need in that moment... relaxation, stress-reduction, wellness, circulation, recovery, injury treatment, or often a combination of these intentions.
I have been practicing a number of manual therapy techniques since my initial training at, Brian Utting School of Massage (1998); including, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Technique, Sports Massage, and Prenatal Massage. I've enjoyed studying Advanced Injury Treatment, Neurofascial Release, Craniosacral, and Reiki techniques as well.
"Do you do deep tissue?" Yes, I do deep tissue massage, but through the years I have found that exploring a layer at a time and using some finesse helps us engage deeper layers without fighting guarding responses. Creating trust with the body leads to the greatest impact, especially when working with old wounds and patterns.
I grew up in the beautiful Yakima Valley in Central Washington. I picked cherries in the summer with my family and played three sports during the school year (volleyball, basketball and track). I also kept busy, playing in the band, dancing, and enjoying small town life with my friends.
I attended Central Washington University in Ellensbug Washington, earning my Bachelors of Science in Fitness and Sports Management. I loved my time in the Kittitas Valley where my enjoyment of the outdoors grew, hiking, camping and backpacking. I also started dancing with a group of amazing women and continued to be a professional dancer for many years. I finished my time in Ellensburg working at the local hospital's Physical Therapy Clinic. I learned so much from my time as a PT Aide.
I moved to the Seattle area to attend Massage School in 1997, and I have been here ever since. My love of the outdoors continues, adding in some extended backpacking (100 miles) and mountain climbing. I also took up distance running, completing many 10Ks, half marathons and one full marathon (one was enough).
I was very fortunate to attend, Brian Utting School of Massage in, Seattle Washington. I am grateful for the in-depth, professional, caring education I received there. It was a transformative time and the friends I made there have been life-long.
My massage career has been a joy. Early on, I worked in a busy spa industry which allowed me to get my hands on a lot of people and hone the skills I learned at school, along with fun body treatments and pampering.
I transitioned to a wellness center environment where I was able to collaborate with other professionals (acupuncturists, chiropractors, nutritionists, counselors, and life coaches). Injury treatment and insurance cases were a large part of my business during this time.
In 2020 I created a home-practice to accommodate my long-time regular patients during the Covid Pandemic. At this point I moved away from insurance billing and it has worked out. This space worked well enough that it continues to be my massage space today.
I am a mother to two teen sons and an elderly cat (she is not allowed in the massage space). We live together with my partner in Bothell.
Eight years ago I took on a second career, supporting Middle School students in Northshore School District. It is an equally challenging and rewarding position. Middle School is a very different environment than my quiet massage room, but I have enjoyed supporting the wellness of these young humans and watching them grow.
Other interests include, travel, yummy food, meditation, paddle boarding, and time with my family and friends.
~I look forward to being a part of your wellness journey. ~
